Those others who have done the same thing in their life know what that feeling is and what it means as far as character and love of this planet and its environment and animals. Winfield has breed dwarf cichlids, many different South American Cichlids including different kinds of Oscars, Angelfish, Asian fish such as Gourami’s, Bettas and Coradoras Cat Fish from South America throughout his years as a hobbyist breeder.
Winfield has also been a photographer since 1955 including 21 years as a U. S. Navy Photographer retiring in 1983 as a U. S. Navy Chief Photographer. Winfield also is considered a photographic technologist because of his many hours of classes from RIT, U. S. Navy and his working 8-years as a Quality Assurance Manager for the U. S. Geological Survey’s satellite reproduction facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Winfield has traveled to many places around the world including Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Denmark and his photography has been shown in some of these countries. During this period he photographed the Running-of-the-Bulls in Spain; Night Club Performances in England; Orphanages in Korea; Artifacts in Denmark; Bull Fights in Madrid; Sailing Ships in Seville; and Religious Shrines in Japan.
Winfield worked for the U. S. Geological Survey for ten years. He worked in Menlo Park, California first and a lithographer and finally as the Regional Administrative Officers for the Office of Earthquake Studies. Winfield worked for the U. S. Geological Survey’s Landsat satellite imaging program as their Photographic Quality Assurance Manager for over 7-years. During this time Winfield did studies on quality issues and conducted customer surveys to determine quality requirements for photographic products from 16mm micro fiche to 40”X40” black and white and color final products reproduced from 1” computer tapes converted to 70mm film and then to printed products to map scale accuracy. Winfield wrote the first product specification on a photographic final product. He was recognized by the American Society of Quality Control for his contribution to photographic quality control methods in photography.
As stated previously Winfield has been a photographer for over 53-years, for the first 50-years as a film still photographer and for the last 3-years as a digital photographer. Winfield now uses Canon EOS camera systems for his photography which makes him one of the high end quality photographers in the digital imaging world.
Because of circumstances Winfield has decided recently to devote all his time to photographing Cichlids in particular and some other animals in general. Winfield is presently setting up a “Fish Portrait Studio” to accomplish this. This studio will consist of the highest quality digital cameras and will be tested continually for maximum sharpness and quality of each image.
Winfield on occasion will travel to photograph other hobbyist’ fish for them for a fee. Winfield has also decided to conduct certain surveys that he feels will be beneficial to the tropical fish industry. He hopes to pick up sponsors for these surveys as he proves himself again in this hobby that he loves so dearly.
Winfield has over fifty years experience in photography both on the National and International scene. His photos have appeared in displays in Europe and Asia as well as in the United States.
As an aerial reconnaissance and public affairs specialist (for nine years) while on active duty with the Department of the Navy, he developed special photographic techniques and programs and taught photographic courses. Subsequently, as a civilian employee for the federal government's satellite remote sensing facility, he developed the first quality assurance program in electronic and photographic reproductions from satellite imagery. Also during this period, he developed the first product specifications for final photographic and electronic products produced by this facility.
Starting his own company in 1984, he has continued his high quality standards while producing photographic products for Real Estate Marketing, Real Estate Insurance, shooting images for Entertainment, Estate Planning, Legal, Landscape Design, Land Use Planning, and Tourism markets.
In addition, seeing a need for Land Use Consulting capabilities in the Rogue Valley, Winfield started Land Use Associates in 1991 to accomplish Land Use Assistance for Property Owners in their efforts to overcome the paperwork required to accomplish their land use efforts. Land Use Associates has progressed into GlobalPhotos.com where Winfield continues to shoot photography for clients. Won all proposed land use planning applications submitted for the next 3-1/2 years.
